Redesign of Airplane Door Hinge Arm

Fibre winded Plane Door Hinge

The ShaPoCo Project focuses on the Shape and Topology Optimization of Composite Structures under Sustainability and Manufacturing Constraints, a collaborative effort involving Gradel, Rafinex, and Latecoere.

project’s primary objective is to develop advanced methodologies and software applications for optimizing the shape and topology of composite materials. These innovations aim to enhance performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness while incorporating practical constraints such as manufacturing limitations and sustainability considerations, specifically tailored for aerospace.

As composite structures become larger, lighter, and more complex, the limitations of conventional metallic and foam tooling solutions are increasingly apparent.
