types of fibres

  • Close-up of filament carbon fiber bobbin.

    Carbon

has several advantages including high stiffness, high tensile strength, low weight, high chemical resistance, high temperature tolerance and low thermal expansion.

  • Close-up of a filament basalt fiber bobbin.

    basalt

Natural mineral sourced, has benefits such as good tensile strength, non-toxic, resistant to UV, impact resistant, high temperature tolerance (-260 - 700 °C) and more economic than carbon, Kevlar and glass fibres.

  • Close-up of a natural flax filament fiber bobbin.

    Flax

Plant based locally sourced fibre, is a sustainable alternative in composites. Is biodegradable, cost with has good mechanical properties, high specific stiffness, easy processability, and low density.

  • Close-up of a glass fiber filament fiber bobbin.

    Glass

Glass made has comparable mechanical properties to other fibres such as polymers and carbon fibre.
